This one day Uganda chimpanzee trekking safari takes you to Uganda’s primate capital, Kibale National Park is situated in south western Uganda in Kabarole district measuring to about 776 square kilometers in size. Kibale National Park is the most magnificent of Uganda’s tropical rain forests and one of the most rewarding areas to explore. Its forest is home to over 13 species primate species including its major attractions; chimpanzees which are man’s closest relatives, the localized Red Colobus, L’Hoest’s monkeys and the endemic Uganda Manbabay.

The Uganda chimpanzee trekking safari activity has two sessions in a day; the morning chimp trekking that commences at 8am with an early briefing from the park rangers and the afternoon chimp trekking that starts at 2 or 3pm. You are guided by the park rangers who will lead you into the forest for this exciting adventure.

Wake up early and take breakfast at your lodge or hotel and get ready for your journey which will start at 5am in the morning. Our driver guide will pick you at the hotel, brief you about  this short Uganda wildlife safari and after transfer you to the famous primate capital park for a nature walk. You will check in upon arrival and straight away go to Bigodi wetland for your Nature walk with a ranger guide. This is a guided nature walk that will bring you close to primates such as the monkeys. The wetland is also a birders paradise for visitors interested in Uganda birding safaris. It has over 138 bird species like the Blue Turaco. This wetland nature walk lasts about 2-3 hours. Return from the nature walk and proceed for your lunch as booked and prepare for your chimpanzee trekking safari activity.

After lunch, you will get briefed by the ranger guides about the do’s and dont’s of the chimpanzee trekking safari activity. After the briefing, you will be led into the fabulous rain-forest where you will see the chimpanzees play in the trees as they make funny sounds. Chimpanzee trekking takes about 3-4 hours. During your Uganda wildlife safari adventure, there is a lot to see while in this Kibale jungle forest along side the chimpanzees including other primates, several flora species and quite a good number of birds. During your trek, you will listen to the sounds of the Rain Forest, see butterflies floating through the air, and chimpanzees that will grab your attention, making the forest a worthy place to visit on a Uganda safari. Black and white colobus, grey-cheeked mangabey, red-tailed, l’Hoest’s and blue monkeys, and olive baboons. Bushbucks and mongooses and many more can also be found here and can be seen as you trek the chimpanzees.

After the walk, return to Kampala expecting late arrival.
